How to rip files/add files to your ic902 (and possible other ICs)
First the software:
BitPim (Freeware, yay) http://www.bitpim.org/ Motorola USB Driver Attached in this thread. 1) First install USB Driver and install BitPIm. Dont run BitPim yet. 2) Plug in your ic902 and allow install the drivers as prompted. 3) Run BitPim. Go to Edit, then Settings. 4) In the drop down list for Phone Type, choose Other CDMA Phone ![]() 5) Click on Browse next to Com Port, and choose "Motorola USB Modem" ![]() 6) Click OK, and OK, and get back to the main screen. Then click the View menu, then View Filesystem. A new option in the right pane will appear that says Filesystem. Click That. 7) Click the + sign in the pane to the right. After a few minutes of it saying "Retrieving" a bunch of folfers should appear. This is the phones filesystem. In here are java apps, themes, ringtones, startup tones and pictures, etc. etc. etc. Here is a brief list of some of the folders in here and what they are: mmc1: This is your transflash card brew/mod/camera/sounds: shutter sounds brew/mod/camera/funframes/(low,medium,high): different resolution fun frames brew/mod/obione/stk/cache/: web cache motorola/: all of the content will be stored within this folder motorola/preload/: all the preloaded content of the phone motorola/shared/jas/content/: all your downloaded games, wallpapers, themes, etc. There more in there, and I will post tutorials on more things, but for now that should get everyone started. Have fun.

I'm having the same problem with my ic902. I have windows xp pro sp2 with the suggested usb drivers to install. When I click on the " Motorola USB Modem" area as suggested, it reverts back to a com port, in this case Com3 for some reason. Seems like it doesn't save the settings as suggested in the tutorial.
I even manually entered the " Motorola USB Modem " for force the setting. I'm wondering if its a new revision of ic902 thats blocking bitpim to work. Prior to opening up BitPim, I installed the USB drivers, inserted the ic902 , XP seems to install it as a new device and it found it with no problems at all. Wondering if there's something I'm missing or a current issue that hasn't been resolved yet. Any leads or other advise? Thanks |

I have tried to follow the Bitpim tutorial to get the shutter sound (which I can't stand) off my ic902 but I am not very tech savvy and it isn't working for me.
I installed the drivers. The phone was recognized as a new device. I plugged it in and the computer recognizes it. I went through the tutorial but when it gets to opening the phone up in modem it doesn't recognize the phone as a modem and only gives me a motorola USB Diagnostics port (com4). When it tries to auto detect the phone in Bitpim, it says no phone recognized. Could you guys/gals tell me what I am doing wrong......in very specific/detailed terms. :-) remember....I am not very tech savvy ;-( Much Appreciated. PS....Do you have to have a special USB cable? I am using the USB cable I use for my camera, Ipod, and other storage devices.

Hello, today I got a standard motorola miniusb cable, and after reading a lot of sites (apparently Motorola assumes I should buy a product named Phone Tools 5.0, see http://www.store.motorola.com/mot/en...&catKey=600960) I just followed your procedure and it is working . My exact setup is an Ubuntu box with a plain WinXP installed in a vmware server 1.0.7, sharing the USB port, in order to avoid using antivirus software at all.
