i did some reading and searches and found out that a person 18 or older but younger than 21 can actually own a shotgun or rifle only and can be use for home protection

can anyone here confirm that

also that i can own a handgun but cannot carry it concealed until i turn 21

I live in PA too, just wanted to find out

most states that allow firearm ownership allows peps 18-20 to own long guns and 21 over to own handguns

PA State law concerning firearms: http://www.atf.gov/firearms/statelaw...nnsylvania.pdf

Federal Laws concerning firearm purchases: http://www.lcav.org/library/reports_....Transfers.pdf

short answer: you cannot own a handgun until you are 21 and cannot transport a concealed weapon until you have a CCW permit

best bet is to call the sheriff's office and ask them, but yes it would appear that you can purchase a rifle or shotgun. just don't go waving it around

I know here in CT .. You go to a Cabela's or Walmart ( not all sell rifles-long guns ) you have a 14 day waiting period. With a pistol permit you walk in and walk out with a new rifle or shot gun. Pistol permit is different from town to town . most need 3 letters of character reference. Obviously finger printing. stuff like that .. im in the process now of getting my license to carry a pistol . Anyone have a good recommendations on guns. Glocks ? Ruger ? Sig ? S&W ? Kimber ?

I personally know two people that went with the HiPoint pistols. Good quality with a lifetime warranty DIRT CHEAP brand new! They fire nicely, no jams yets, and again, the price can't be beat. One bought the 9mm for $125 + tax and the other got the .45 for $145 + tax.

Personally, I like the S&W Sigma40GVE or Sigma45GVE. So similar to the Glock that I heard that they pay royalties to Glock. Nice and light and fires great. Tight groups at 25 yards, no jams, decent recoil, and good impact. I have seen a 100yd shot with the .40 (using a sandbag as a rest on a bench, no laser sight, and the guy only shot 4 to 5 days every six months) and it was 4-1/2 inches from center.

Now I am considering a .38 semi for the smaller size as it is easier to conceal and still packs a good punch at close ranges. (Most self defense situations happen under 7 yards)

If you are going to conceal carry, REMEMBER THIS: IT MUST BE CONCEALED IN ITS ENTIRETY. No part of the weapon can be visible or you stand to face a run in with the cops!

Here is a good site for state laws.... http://www.nraila.org/GunLaws/

P.S. - Stay away from anything smaller than a .32 as the impact at over 7 yards is minimal. I shot a friends .25 semi, and although it was light and fired smoothly and accurately, after a very slight low shot that hit just below the coffee container and went through the bottom of the PLASTIC container, the round was 100% intact and found INSIDE the container with no other holes or start of a hole in the container as an exit. Very low impact, it was just enough to roll the container off the target rest as the round went through the bottom...

P.P.S - Fuck that ban! It is bullshit anyhow, law abiding citizens should NOT have to be controlled in any way! Make me carry a pistol limited to 8+1 or 10+1 and the criminal has unlimited ammo bought through the black market... And if they are worried about Mexico, FUCK MEXICO, they have their own government and military and law enforcement, don't depend on us unless you are willing to abide by OUR laws and become part of OUR country paying OUR taxes and adding to OUR economy. Until then, cross the border with stringent checks in AND out, anyone else is crossing illegally and suffers any consequences. PERIOD!
