Vista IDEN Drivers Tutorial

Follow these steps before installing drivers, JAL, and/or RSS programs...

Unistall all IDEN programs (JAL, Drivers, and/or RSS)
Reboot Computer
Find the setup.exe file for what ever program you are installing
Right click on the setup.exe file
Select Properties
Click the Compatibility tab
Check "Run this program in compatibility..."
Select WinXP SP2 from the drop down box
Click OK
Run the setup.exe file
Install program normally
Allow Vista to install any drivers that states has not been tested
Attach your phone to the USB cable
Windows will look for the drivers for it and most likely you will get this at the end.

Follow the steps below to properly install the driver

Go to Device Manager

Right click on Motorola USB Modem
Select Update Driver Software

Select "Browse my computer for driver software"

Select "Let me pick from a list of devices drivers on my computer"

Click "Have Disk"

Click "Browse" and browse to C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\MOTOROLA SHARED\MOTPCSDRIVERS\USB MODEM

Click "OK"

Under "Manufacturer" select Motorola
Under "Models" Select the first driver listed
Click Next and Vista will install your drivers.

Run your Jal program and Vista will switch the driver to a P2K Device. If it does not follow the same steps as for the Motorola USB Modem but select the P2k Device to update driver software and you may have to select Flash Interface Device as the hardware. The Motorola P2K device should be installed properly unless you did not follow the above steps.

Any RSS Program will not work with Vista and this will only work with WebJAL or the other JAL...

Send a message via AIM to At0mAng Send a message via Yahoo to At0mAng
LAST STEP
Run Regedit
Goto...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Motorola
For LabJAL
Expand Motorola folder
Expand LabJAL folder
Click on Options folder
If D-Word value "Use USB" is not present then add it
Set Value to 1
If it is present then just set to 1
For RSS Programs the D-Word value is "USB Port" and it is found in the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Motorola\iDEN\RSS\Carri er\(App Name)\Configuration
Key

Note:
When you first plug in your phone in the Device manager it might be a blank device with no name...

either im dumb or there is a problem

ok I have followed every set of instructions for gettting this to work that I could find but since this is the most detailed that I have found I figure ill try here. I have tried this countless times and every time it goes through up to the point where it is actually supposed to install them I get an error message saying

The file folder you specified does not contain the needed information

I have looked for the folder myself and could not find it

if anyone could please help before I kick my comp out the window

The drivers may be in
C:\Program Files\Motorola\iDEN USB Driver
depending upon which software package you installed.

I get to this and when i search for the driver and hit ok, the only option is next. I click next and it installs it. It doesnt let me select the manufactor or anything. I went to motorolas website and even downloaded the drivers for it, without that i didnt even have the /commonfiles directly for motorola.

After i hit let me pick from a lsit of device drivers i get 2 devices.

One says, Motorola iDEN USB Modem Version: 2.1.0.0 [2/13/2007] and its digitally signed while theres one below it that says Motorola iDEN USB Modem and isnt digitally signed. Which one do i click and hit have disk?
