I wanna get gmom a tv for around $400 and 42in. dont want to buy online so im thinking bestbuy and they have a few rca and a samsung for around that price. anythoughts?
I'd go with Samsung, have owned them for years currently have two in the house. I had a 42" RCA gave it away because it sounded like shit and bought a Vizio (another great brand)
same thing i always say jeff ... go to wally world and compare all the ones on the wall display, the one around here had a few around $400
sorry but for $100 more i would rather go with someone that has been doing this for many many years, not some offshore taiwanese company that blows molds for the shell and inserts the LCD screen and cheap breakable components.
Read on the reviews for this company they have an office based in California as a front but the majority of their products are shipped from Taiwan and assembled in USA, even better luck trying to get any warranty from them.
Samsung like i said and you will not have issues.
Plain and simple, not always is cheaper better, when it comes to larger expenses go with a reputable company.
A decent Sammy 42 will prolly run close to 6 bills...well worth it, but
If you really want to spend less. Take a look at the Haier L42B1180 42-Inch! Very nice inexpensive sets for under 500. I have a couple these in rentals and they hold up very well. Only 60Hz but full 1080p
Number 1 in my book is Samsung and I said that in my initial first post. He wants to spend 400 dollars and get something good. That's not Samsung unless your getting 32" and under. The next best thing is Vizio. Not sure where you read reviews but I have personally owned four to date. They all gave top brand names a run for their money. I have one in my living room now, gave two to the parents recently.
I have two vizio's a 47" almost 2 years and a 42" around 4 years, never had an issue with either tv. Never used the speakers on the 47" but picture on both and sound on the 42 are awesome. I'd buy and recommend vizio anytime...not crap at all.
